My Top 10 Games of 2020

It's that time year again when we look back at the games released the previous year and rank the best ones we've played.

Now I didn't play everything and can think of some games like Hades or Yakuza Like a Dragon maybe making this list if I had played but from the 50+ I did these are the best 10.

10. Call of the Sea (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

 

Call of the Sea is adventure style game which released late 2020 from Out of the Blue and Raw Fury starring Cissy Jones as the leas voice actress.  CotS could have maybe placed higher, but the ending lets it down a tad.

9. Assassin's Creed Valhalla (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, Luna, PC)

 

Ubisoft's continued its success of the previous AC games Origins and Odyssey with this new outing set in England. 

8. If Found... (Switch, PC)

 

If found won't be for everyone being a visual novel, and it's themes, yet you will find a well written emotional story very much taking a look at.

7. Spider-Man Miles Morales (PS4, PS5)

 

Insomniac helps usher in a new PlayStation generation with this Spider-Man spin-off starring Miles Morales in the lead over Peter Parker.

6. Tell Me Why (Xbox One, PC)

  

Dontnod continue their brilliant way of story telling (Not so much with Twin Mirror) with this Xbox exclusive Tell Me Why, which is my Xbox Game of the Year.

Before we get to the Top 5, we have the worst game of the year  G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC) which is just awful.

5. Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)

 

I had been waiting since the PS3 tech demo for this remake, and it was the worth that wait for what is my remake of the year and possibly the best soundtrack as well. Now we wait for the next entry.

4.  Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PC)

 

Moon Studios made it 2 for 2 with this awesome sequel to this Metroidvania series.

3.  Ghost of Tsushima (PS4)

  

Sucker Punch moved away from platforming raccoons and superheroes to this open world adventure during the first Mongol invasion of Japan, in what I hope can become a new series for PlayStation much like Horizon.

2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Switch)

 

ACNH is my Nintendo Switch Game of the Year and could be argued to be the GOTY especially in 2020 as it's a game a lot of people needed this year and sells numbers are phenomenal. 

1. The Last of Us Part II (PS4)

  

But there can only be one GOTY and that's Naughty Dog's follow up to 2013's The Last of Us with its sequel which might not just be the best game of 2020 but one of the best on the PS4 and the 8th generation as a whole.

10 Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games (October 2020)

 

 

I've mainly been highlighting games coming to either the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S even games that will only be playable via backwards compatibility. This doesn't mean I've forgotten about the Nintendo Switch which does have a few games I'm excited about coming to the system.

10 Most Anticipated Next Gen Multi-Format Games (October 2020)

 

The last two days I've listed ten games that are PlayStation Console Exclusive and same with Xbox, which will be coming to PS5 and Series X|S respectively.

Now it's the turn of the Multi-Format which I'm looking forward to play regardless of the system I will be playing them on. Some of these will still be arriving on PS4 or Xbox One but will take advantage of the next gen features the new consoles will have.

I will also point out that I'm excited to play likes of Nier: Replicant ver. 1.22474487139... which isn't coming to PS5 or Series X|S but that is a list for another time.

7th Absolver

An online multiplayer combat experience where you are placed behind the mask of a Prospect by the ever-present Guides, rulers of the fallen Adal Empire that will determine your worth in joining their elite corps of enforcers. Wander forsaken lands, encounter others to learn new combat skills, acquire weapons and armour, and engage in solo duels and intense three-on-three battles. Absolver will also be available for Xbox Game Pass members.

 

10th Aftercharge

A 3 v 3 competitive game pitting invisible robots against an invincible security squad in high-voltage tactical skirmishes. The robots must sneak around to punch down all the energy extractors on the site while the guards are tasked to spot the attackers. It’s up to you to stop them and put an end to the uprising! Aftercharge will also be available for Xbox Game Pass members.  

 

11th Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

Celebrate the 10th anniversary of Tales of Vesperia and the return of this fan-favourite with the Definitive Edition. Tales of Vesperia is one of the most beloved entries in the ‘Tales of’ series and returns with beautifully remastered full HD graphics, never before seen characters, expanded story, and much more!

 

11th Hive Jump

Xbox One X Enhanced - Assume the role of the Jumpers and blast your way through subterranean alien hives in chaotic run-and-gun 2D platforming action. Up to four players can band together via local multiplayer to destroy aliens, avoid traps, collect treasures and lost relics. Win the final battle against the hive queen to save the galaxy!  

 

11th Void Vikings

Arcade style, top-down 2.5D space shooter where intense action is the focus and choosing the right education could pay off. Manage your Space Bucks to destroy your student loans before you die. If you succeed your score could sing your praises through all of Valhalla.

11th Onimusha: Warlords

Selling over 2 million copies since its release in 2001, the Sengoku-period survival action classic returns. This version features higher resolution graphics, 16:9 widescreen support and modernised control options.

A hole new lot of games Out this Week Dec 18th - 21st

 

18th Donut County

Raccoons have taken over Donut County with remote-controlled trash-stealing holes. You play as BK, a hole-driving raccoon who swallows up his friends and their homes to earn prizes. Meet interesting characters, steal their trash, and throw them in a hole. Donut County is also part of the ID@Xbox Winter of Arcade.

 

18th Nippon Marathon

San! Ni! Ichi! Hajime!!! Stretch your muscles and embark upon the ultimate marathon of Japan in a silly party racer! Hurdle barrels, outrun Shiba Inu, and dive out of the paths of bicycles, all while throwing fruit at your opponents and dashing across planks precariously balanced over waterfalls in an unreal marathon across the whole of Japan.

 

19th Road Redemption

An action racing game where you lead your motorcycle gang on an epic journey of pursuit, blood, and speed. Through your travels, you will upgrade your character, bike, and weapons by completing races, assassinations, robberies, and more.  You’ll need to use kicks, grabs, counters, and other moves to stay alive.

 

19th Hellfront: Honeymoon

An intense twin-stick action strategy game, Hellfront: Honeymoon is said to be enjoyed best with friends over a six-pack of fruit juice. It’s PvP with up to four players locally as you battle it out across brief, intense battles.

 

21st Sundered: Eldritch Edition

Sundered is a horrifying fight for survival and sanity, a hand­-drawn epic from the creators of Jotun. You play Eshe, a wanderer in a ruined world, trapped in ever-­changing caverns filled with hordes of terrifying enemies. 21st Asdivine Hearts II

Phoenix Down used on Final Fantasy for Xbox One (and this blog)

Hi guys, I've not posted for a while as I was, unfortunately, doing a lot of lates and weekends at work along with going away on holiday that I've not posted much on here even the most basic of news such as what's coming out this week. 

I plan to get back into the swing of things starting with this exciting news from last week, thanks to a Nintendo Direct, where a bunch of Final Fantasy games were announced for the Nintendo Switch, not long after the Final Fantasy twitter account sent out a tweet about the upcoming games and announcing that a few of the games shown will also be coming to Xbox One and join Final Fantasy XV already on the console. 

The games coming include the now released Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD, World of Final Fantasy Maxima an enhanced version of the previously released title elsewhere, which will come to Xbox One on November 6th.

Then in 2019 four (or five depending on your view) games will arrive which includes Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX (the best one), Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age.

No word yet if the likes of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will get a physical release like it has on other consoles or will be digital only much like other Square Enix title NieR: Automata.
