Have a summer holiday in Silent Hill

Yesterday afternoon Major Nelson posted on his Twitter two new backwards compatible titles, the so-so ports of Silent Hill 2 & 3 in the 2012 HD Collection and along with those Homecoming has also got the backwards compatible treatment. 

 

This brings Silent Hill to four games on Xbox One with Downpour already compatible.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Game Preview Update

BANDAI NAMCO announced a feature update for Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition on Xbox One Preview, going live Thursday 19^th July, 7PM BST. The new features will apply to the Xbox One Preview version and include a host of new updates such as 4K and HDR support (optimising the game for Xbox One X), better general performance, improvements to the UI and bug fixes. The update also adds achievements and hero stats. This comes ahead of Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition’s full release on August 31st 2018.
 

Those that pre-order Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition will also receive the Sir Lora DLC at launch. The DLC features brand new squirrel companion Sir Lora, who requests your help from the Knights of Drey, an order of furry knights who believe in the coming of the Great Acorn. By recruiting this runaway squirrel, players will unlock skill-crafting recipes and most importantly, they will get the opportunity to dive deeper into the mysteries surrounding the Great Acorn!

What Happened? Inside Xbox July Edition

We got news on Game Pass with Rocket League out now to mark the games 3rd anniversary along with Warhammer: Vermintide 2 on the service as well.

Major Nelson showed off a new controller

The Inside Xbox team had some guests join them who showed of the Clockwork Orange 60s London inspired We Happy Few which looks like it could be a real hit this August.

 If you can't wait till August for a new game then co-op based Earthfall is out this Friday, this looks very much like Left 4 Dead but with Aliens invading earth.

The show ended with a quick look at Forza Horizon 4 and the upcoming stream every Tuesday this month showing off a different season each time, with summer showing available to watch now.

Dolby Vision coming to Xbox One S & X

Microsoft is preparing to add Dolby Vision support to its Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles. The addition will mean the Xboxes join the Apple TV 4K and Google’s Chromecast Ultra as the only streaming devices that currently support both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. 

Microsoft is testing  Dolby Vision support with Xbox Insiders right now, and it appears to be limited to streaming apps for now. Netflix is one of the first apps to be updated with Dolby Vision for the Xbox One S and Xbox One X, and it’s not clear if Microsoft plans to extend this to Blu-ray discs too.

Dolby Vision is widely considered to be more superior to the current HDR10 support found on the Xbox One S and X. Dolby Vision adjusts the brightness and colour of scenes with metadata, and supports up to a 12-bit colour depth and higher peak brightness targets than HDR10. While you won’t necessarily see an immediate difference on current TV sets, Dolby Vision support (alongside HDR10) on the Xbox One makes it more future proof in the current HDR standards war.
